It is used in different chemical, petrochemical and manufacturing industries as a masking agent, viscosity control, perfume, plasticizer (in the manufacture of plastics and resins), desiccant (in the dehydration of natural gas), disinfectant and solvent.

Oil and Gas Industry: As a desiccant to extract water vapor from natural gas and other gaseous hydrocarbons, preventing the corrosion of equipment and pipelines, as well as the formation of hydrates.
Petrochemical Industry: It is used as a plasticizing agent to give flexibility to polymers and vinyl compounds, and also as an additive in the manufacture of hydraulic fluids and brake fluids.
Cosmetic Industry: It is used as an odor masker, viscosity controller, and moisturizing agent in the manufacture of cosmetics, also as a solvent for fragrances and as an odor masker for perfumes and personal care products.
